Although I could use this bio to describe my accolades, I'd rather describe the motivations behind why I started Nevin Admissions Consulting.
My initial work with college admissions advising began in a nonprofit, volunteering with students who had no experience with the process. It was incredibly rewarding seeing them grow and, as a first-gen college student who figured out the process on his own, it was an experience I resonated with.
After several years, I moved on to a larger college admissions firm, however, I resigned after only a few months. I couldn't stand the way I was trained and expected to work - "You need to bill more hours," was a phrase I was once directly told. It was the opposite of why I began college admissions consulting in the first place.
About two years ago, I started Nevin Admissions Consulting with the goal of offering advice and guidance that families could trust. Our "Most Tailored Approach" motto emerged from this personal experience. By working closely with my students and being willing and able to shift my approach, my work, my staff, and our opportunities to fit their specific needs - rather than worrying about billable hours and fixed responsibilities - I can be confident and satisfied that we're putting our best foot forward.
